After owning this bike for almost 25 years now........the paintwork was looking a little tired. Rather than upset the provenance of the original bodywork, I decided to buy some replica bodywork and have it painted to replicate Roche's bike from the 1990 WSB season, the first year which Ducati won the championship. I hope you like it.....I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea...but hey ho....I fancied trying it out.

    Nice !!
Sponsors are made by stickers or painted ? (if they are stickers, where did you find them ?)

Now you need to paint your helmet like this...

    And wear that t-shirt

Thanks Baba......the chap who does paintwork for me makes them. He paints a lot of stuff for Ducati. Even some of the bikes what are in the Ducati factory museum in Italy. He does a lot of work for a lot of race teams. He's painted a few helmets for me also.

Very good Ade, couple of small dramas on both 888s ( ask Steve) but nothing major, Ohlins techs set up the bike for me, no charge. Covered just under 6000km by the time I got home, took the scenic route home through Andorra and the Pyrenees. Next time?

Excellent job! Very classy. Big fan of the '90 bike(s).

    Adie-

Very sweet-- at first glance it could easily pass for a RR. I think the low SP2 exhaust cans and V brackets along with the Ohlins and black calipers gives it the authenticity.

I am almost finished restoring my '89 Factory Works bike (with RR's name printed on the ECU). I am painting up new carbon bodywork at the moment to replace the original crashed bodywork shown in these pictures. I stripped the bike down to the frame - repainting the frame, rear hoop, and rear subframe last summer in my favorite white from House of Color which I was able to buy from Marvin's stash. I am not sure if I am going to paint in the original complete red #27 as ridden in '89 or to paint it like an early '90 Works bike. Either way I am not going to put RR on it even though from the printing on the ECU we can infer that RR rode the bike.

I only know of three of these early Works bikes that are complete-- one is #3 in the factory museum, one is in another Italian museum.

Hope you do not mind me for the slight HiJack.
